University of Phoenix’s Chief Operating Officer Raghu Krishnaiah has explained that the University’s apprenticeship agreements expand its unique approach to workforce opportunities, retention, and talent development. He has said that the University’s collaborative work tackles “barriers of time, expense and degree so that employers can be intentional and inclusive and offer ‘earn while you learn’ options in the apprentice model career pathway.”

The U.S. Department of Labor has found that apprenticeships offer a lifetime earning advantage, have a track record of retention and can lead to hundreds of job roles in high growth and emerging sectors. Those who complete an apprenticeship program can expect to take on a role with a starting salary of $77,000, and 93 percent of employees retain the roles they secure after completing their apprenticeships. Plus, apprentice graduates typically earn more over the course of their lifetimes than peers who don’t pursue apprenticeships.
